DEP: Mosquito Spraying Set For Bradford, Columbia, Lycoming, Susquehanna, Wyoming Counties TODAY And August 23

The Department of Environmental Protection Wednesday announced it will conduct mosquito control operations to reduce high populations of mosquitoes TODAY and August 23 in portions of Columbia County, Bradford County, and Lycoming County. Control work will begin late in the evening.
August 22
-- In Benton, Columbia County, truck-mounted Ultra Low Volume (ULV) spray equipment will be utilized to spray Duet applied at a rate of .75 oz/acre.  
-- In Gillett and Troy, Bradford County, truck-mounted ULV spray equipment will be utilized to spray DeltaGard applied at a rate of 1.0 oz/acre.
-- In Muncy, Lycoming County, truck-mounted ULV spray equipment will be utilized to spray DeltaGard applied at a rate of .66 oz/acre.
August 23
DEP will also conduct mosquito control operations to reduce high populations of mosquitoes on August 23, 2018, in portions of Susquehanna County, Lycoming County, Bradford County, and Wyoming County in these areas--
-- In Great Bend in Susquehanna County, Tunkhannock in Wyoming County, and Sayre and Towanda in Bradford County, truck-mounted ULV spray equipment will be utilized to spray DeltaGard applied at a rate of 1.0 oz/acre.
-- In Linden, Cogan Station, Nisbet and Williamsport in Lycoming County, truck-mounted Ultra Low Volume ULV spray equipment will be utilized to spray Duet applied at a rate of .75 oz/acre.
Duet is designed to provide quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes. DeltaGard, a reduced-risk pesticide by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations.
Due to treatment technique and risk classification of the active ingredient, the application is not expected to have any impact on people or pets.
Weather conditions and other unexpected events (such as lowered mosquito populations) could delay or cancel these operations.
